VE DAY IN LOCKDOWN
Hold a stay at home garden party with your community.
With us all looking like we will be in some kind of lock down on the 8th of May 2020, now is the time to come up with some creative ideas to celebrate 75 years of VICTORY IN EUROPE.
We as a family were planning a get together at my sister’s house to celebrate, now we will be in separate houses but joined together by the joys of the internet on one of the many apps that are available to bring us all together.
There is a nation wide idea of having your own stay at home garden party, either in your front garden’s ( which is great if you live in quieter streets), or in your back gardens if you don’t have the space or safety on the front , Here’s a little poster/invite you can download, and print off post it to your neighbours to invite them to join in the fun. I’ve put together a few links to help prepare for the party, from making paper bunting with the kids to styling your hair 1940’s style. Here’s the first link to a VE day Pinterest board
If you have a printer why not print off posters, or union jacks for the kids to make into bunting? decorate cup cakes with red, white and blue icing and sprinkles. Make your own ration books or raid you wardrobe for a skirt or blouse and style up a 1940’s look. Be creative !!!
I’m going to practice this little guide on how to put your hair into victory rolls, Youtube is a great source of guides too.

Check out your local communities to see if they are getting together. Eccleshall in Staffordshire have had a fabulous idea within the village, at 2-3.30 they are holding a virtual street party hosted by the Little George in Eccleshall, I know I’m in stafford but I for one will be logging in for a good sing song. here is the link to the event .
Hope my little links have helped spark some creativity and I would love to see your photo’s, give them a hashtag #vedayhomeparty .
