Family portraits in the comfort of your home.
Last month I had the pleasure of visiting Kate, David and Max at their beautiful home in Shropshire, Kate had contacted me in January keen to have some family photo’s taken, Would I travel to their home ? absolutely !!
Kate wanted a relaxed, unposed Photography session in their home, what is known as lifestyle photography.
So what is lifestyle photography, Lifestyle photography is a kind of photography that mainly aims to capture portrait/people in situations, real-life events or milestones in an artistic manner and the art of the everyday. The primary goal is to tell stories about people’s lives or to inspire people in different times. I personally love capturing these kind of sessions, as a seasoned wedding photographer of 15 years, I’m used to the challenges of working on location to capture exactly what my families are looking for.
Studio sessions aren’t for everyone, luckily we don’t all like or do the same things in life.. I love both genres, studio or location I’m always in my element, for me it’s about the intermate connection I have with all my families, in some cases it’s capturing couples getting married, then I get to hold and capture their newest arrivals into their families, and the story continues with more children and then the great honour to watch these families grow and evolve. As photographers we have a privileged position to freeze time, freeze those moments, a real legacy for all of us. Honestly I get such a buzz from capturing these connections between families, it really does make my heart sing..
Max will be running around with rugby or football boots on before they know it !!!! trust me on that one, I feel I blinked and 32 years went by. I hear so many mums say, “stop growing” childhood goes by so quickly, too quickly..
I love the unposed, relaxed family portraits that lifestyle photography gives you, a bit like a fly on the wall, enjoying spending time together to express their love as a family, what could be better??
Kate very kindly wrote me some lovely words to explain why she booked and what her end goal wanted to be..
“We first booked a session with Frances because we were keen to have some photographs with our son Max before he grew much older. We hadn’t had the chance to have a proper ‘newborn’ session as we had been so busy for the first couple of months after Max was born, so a session around four months seemed perfect.
Frances offered a session at her studio or at our house and we decided to have a session at home so that we could include our Dalmatian, Lady.
Although it was a bit strange at first to have someone photographing us in our home, Frances soon made us feel totally at ease. Even Lady wanted to jump into the photographs! As we were able to have the shoot in the comfort of our own home, we were all so relaxed and comfortable, which I think comes across in the photographs.
When we saw the final photographs we were over the moon with how they turned out! Frances perfectly captured our family and our home, which is exactly what we had wanted. We can wholeheartedly recommend Frances to anyone considering a newborn or baby shoot.”
